Giving Landscape Materials a Second Life

At Jensen Gardens, many landscape projects involve removing materials that are no longer needed. Instead of sending those materials to the landfill, we look for ways to turn them into resources that can be used again. It is all part of our commitment to building and maintaining landscapes responsibly.

Composting

Spring cleanups and seasonal maintenance generate a large amount of plant debris. Rather than discard it, we separate and repurpose it. Our partners at Soil Dynamics collect the material, shred it, and carefully manage the composting process by monitoring moisture and turning the piles as needed. The end result is nutrient-rich compost that we incorporate back into landscape beds to improve soil health and support new plantings.

Concrete Recycling

When a project calls for removing an old patio, sidewalk, or driveway, that concrete does not go to waste. It is sent to a recycling facility where it is crushed and sorted into usable aggregate. This material is then reused as a base for roads across Nebraska and as a solid foundation for new patios and walkways.

Screened Topsoil

Landscape projects often involve removing sod, plants, or soil during excavation. We take that material and give it new life. Using our on-site soil trommel, we screen and process debris into clean, reusable topsoil. The trommel separates out larger materials, leaving behind high-quality soil ready for grading, planting, or finishing touches.
