Watering Instructions:

How to check your soil

Stick a screwdriver in the ground 4”. 
●   If it is wet/muddy, reduce watering. 
●   If it is dry & dusty increase watering. 
●   If it is damp and a small amount of soil sticks to your screwdriver, it is perfect.
*Hot Weather = Increase frequency as needed.  Cool Weather = Decrease as needed

TREES 

Week 1: Water 2 x per week 15gal.  Deep soak for 2 min hand watering with a hose on a med flow - No Nozzle. 
Week 2-8:  Water 1 x week. 
After week 8: Water 1 x every 2 weeks or as needed based on soil moisture. 
●   Do not overwater. 
●   Remove tree straps and stakes after 12 months. 
●   Increase when above 90°, decrease when below 65°.
●   Water 1 x every 3 weeks through fall & winter. Your winterized irrigation system is not going to do this!

SHRUBS, PERENNIALS, FLOWERS 

Week 1: Water 4 x per week (deep soak 30 sec each). 
Week 2-6: Water 2-3 x per week. 
After week 6: Water as needed based on soil moisture. 
●   Do not overwater. 
●   Increase when above 90°, decrease when below 65°.
●   Water 1 x every 3 weeks through fall & winter. Your winterized irrigation system is not going to do this!

EVERGREENS 

Week 1: Water 4 x per week (deep soak 30 sec each). 
Week 2-6: Water 2-3 x per week. 
After week 6: Water as needed based on soil moisture. 
●   Do not overwater. 
●   Increase when above 90°, decrease when below 65°.
●   Water 1 x every 3 weeks through fall & winter. Your winterized irrigation system is not going to do this!
●   Apply anti-desiccant film December, January and February.  Warranty does not cover winter burn damage.

SOD

Sod is not guaranteed and will DIE unless you water.

Week 1: Water 3 x per day for 5-10 minutes
Week 2-4: Water 2 x per day for 5-10 min.  
Week 4-6: Water 1 x per day for 25 minutes. 
After week 6: water as needed based on soil moisture. 

●   Avoid overwatering; lawn sprinklers overwatering trees, shrubs and perennials are the number one cause of plant loss
●   Increase when above 90°, decrease when below 65°.

SEED

Seed is not guaranteed.

Week 1: Water 2 x per day for 7 minutes to keep moist.
Week 2-4: Water 1 x day 10 min. 
Week 4-6: Water Every other day 1 x per day for 15-20 minutes
After week 6: water as needed based on soil moisture. 

●   Avoid overwatering; lawn sprinklers overwatering trees, shrubs and perennials are the number one cause of plant loss
●   Increase when above 90°, decrease when below 65°.

WEED PREVENTION & FERTILIZER

●   Apply pre-emergent 1x in May and 1 x in June to prevent new weed seeds from germinating
●   Apply fertilizer 14-14-14 or 10-10-10 with iron and minerals.
●.  Top-dress mulch beds for a total depth of 2-3" of mulch.

TREE/PLANT MAINTENANCE

●   Apply Deer & Rabbit Repellent to trees, shrubs and perennials. 
●   Young plants are especially susceptible to rabbit damage. 
●   September - May are most damaging. 

PAVER PATIO & RETAINING WALL MAINTENANCE

●   Mild concrete washes, sealers, and color enhancers can be used.  Follow label instructions.  
●  Bring new life back to your patio/wall with a sealer application. 
●  Do not apply salts or de-icing products.  Use cherry grit instead. 

WATER FEATURE MAINTENANCE

●   Startup: Rake out any leaves & debris, clean skimmer/vault & filters, re-install the pump.
●   Winterize: Remove the pump and store inside above freezing in a bucket of water.  No need to drain the water feature.
